Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our wreaths will be arriving on December 4th. We will not be given a specific time until the day of, but the delivery will be leaving the Lunenburg region early in the morning with various drop offs. In previous years, orders have typically arrived between 10-11AM. Please keep an eye on the ESS school website and Twitter accounts to see when they have arrived. Pickup is tentatively scheduled between 11AM and 2PM, but please check either the website or Twitter for the most current updates. Any pickup questions can be emailed to [email protected] .
Thanks, Caitlin Chisholm & Aine O’Hare
Nourish Boxes
Some students were asking about how to fill out the receipt so here's an example:
~ Customer name in the top corner
~ School and pickup information on the bottom
PLEASE remind customers they will need the receipt to collect their boxes (unless the student has agreed to deliver).

Update: Tuesday, November 15th
Here are some updates regarding our grade 9 trip….
Farmer John’s Spices
We have put in the order for our spices. Most items sold made a $2 profit. An update on individual student accounts will be going home this week to let you know the status of your account. We will let you know when we have a set delivery date.
Nourish NS Boxes
Each Nourish Your Roots farm box sells for $30 providing the consumer with good value. Your school keeps $9 from each unit sold to support healthy food programs and initiatives in the school; $18 goes to the farmer and $3 goes to Nourish to build sustainability for Nourish Your Roots.
Wreaths
We are selling wreaths from Tuesday, November 15th until Friday, November 25th. Unfortunately, the Nourish Boxes and Wreaths overlap this year, but the dates were out of our control. It is however a great opportunity for students to make a dent in their accounts. Information regarding this fundraiser has been sent home today.
Student accounts
A notice has gone home with the outline of how much money should be in student account by certain dates. We encourage everyone to review these dates and to contact either Ms. Chisholm or Ms. O’Hare if you have any concerns. Personalized student account updates will be sent home periodically.
Please note: ALL CHEQUES must be made out to Elizabeth Sutherland School whether the money is a personal contribution or a fundraising donation.
Thank you,
Caitlin Chisholm & Aine O’Hare.

Trip Update
May 4 2016
The Spry gear was our last fundraiser so there hasn't been much info to update you on since then. We had thought about doing a yard sale in April but many students have completed their fundraising and those who hadn't were not interested in a yard sale. We also hope to get account updates to you before the end of the week so will know how much you have left to pay, or in some cases, how much you are getting back!
We have had some cancellations, un-cancellations and re-cancellations from one of the events on our tour so we are currently finalizing our itinerary. We will hand out the itinerary as well as the suggested packing list and a good pile of forms to fill out at a Parent's meeting on May 18. It is important that at least one parent be at this meeting so that we can answer any questions you may have an also to make sure the necessary forms make it into your hands!
See you on the 18th at 630 in the Library.

Successful Auction!
FEB 11 2016
We don't have the exact total just yet but we are pleased to announce that the auction raised over $5000 for our grade 9 students. An unofficial tally by one parent had their student making over 600! Thank you to everyone who went out to get donations and to the solid crowd who came out to bid last Friday night!
Orders for sample shirts have gone in to the printer, we are still waiting for their arrival. Order forms will go out as soon as the samples come in!

AUCTION TOMORROW!
Happy auction eve! There was a good last minute rush so we've got a quality auction lined up. There are over 150 items for tomorrow's auction. Well done everyone!
If you have friends and family that would like to come to the auction but haven't bought tickets, we will have tickets at the door, however, door sales will not be directed to individual accounts. With all that goes on at the auction it is impossible to track who bought tickets for/from whom at the door.

Auction this week!
Feb 1
The biggest fundraiser for the grade 9 trip is upon us! We've got a few items in and are really hoping to see a flood of donations today (as it is the deadline!!). If for some reason you forgot your items this morning seeing as it is a Monday, please find a way to get them to us IMMEDIATELY, either at lunch today or at the very latest the end of the day (330). Items will not be accepted after that time as we need to catalog and organize everything for Friday.
The next fundraiser is Spry clothing, we'll send home order forms as soon as sample shirts arrive.

Auction Fast Approaching
Jan 21 2016
Tickets for the grade 9 auction went home this week. They are 5$ each and money is to be brought back to Ms. Mac. If you need more tickets, bring the money in first!
Some auction donations are starting to come in. You can give them to any member of the trip team (Ms. Mac, Ms. O'Hare or M. Murphy). We ask that all items be at the school by Monday Feb. 1 so that we can start an inventory and list for the event.
The logo has been selected for this year's Spry Wear (upload coming soon) and students will be receiving their sample shirt in the next few weeks.
Finally, a reminder that the next Payment deadline is January 29th (next Friday). If your student's account is not up to $425 and you haven't already passed in your post dated cheques, make sure one comes in this week!

Auction Date Set
Dec 15 2015
Our biggest fundraiser for the grade 9 trip is our annual auction and we've set the date: Friday, February 5th. The event is at Bubba Ray's in Fairview starting at 6pm. Students get 100% of the profits from the auction so its important that they start looking for donations early and often! Some suggestions of items we have seen in the past
I should note that this is not a yard sale and therefore we ask that only new items are donated. Student’s will also be selling tickets to this event in the New Year.
The notices are going home today (Dec 18) along with a form you can give to companies to request donations. In case those forms didn't make it all the way home, you can print the donation form right here! -->

Raffle and Account updates
Nov 30, 2015
Our next fundraiser is underway. Students were given packets of raffle tickets today for a Christmas Basket. To keep track of the number of tickets produced (as per our lottery license) please do not photocopy the tickets. If students run out they can get more from Ms. Mac.
The basket contains a whole bunch of Christmas goodies! There is wrapping paper, ribbons, ornaments, decorations, cookies, candies and more! You can come see it in the main office or take a look right here! -->
I've added a page to this website: account updates. If you click on the menu in the top right corner you'll be able to navigate to that page with all the dates and totals for the students' accounts.

CITRUS HAS ARRIVED!
Nov 20, 2015
The grade 9s (with some help) did a great job getting the citrus organized this morning. Orders are ready to be picked up from now until 6pm. Since there is no one here on the weekend nor Monday so it is essential you come pick up citrus today (don't want it to spoil!!).
Also, to make sure the students made the most out of this fundraiser we combined half boxes into wholes. We recommend you split these into the halves you need AFTER you get home, to simplify transportation.

CITRUS PICKUP TIME
The supplier of our citrus order has changed their delivery date again. The fruit will now be delivered on the morning of FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20. As before it will take us a bit to get things organized but we hope to have pick up available starting at 10am. Also, there will be someone here to accommodate pick up until 6pm on Friday.
Apologies for the corrections.

Corrections and Citrus
The first deposit was scheduled to be due tomorrow, however, as there is no classes tomorrow, we have extended the deadline to Monday November 16.
We now know what time the citrus order will arrive. We are expecting the truck first thing on morning of the 19th. You may pick up your order any time after 10am to give us some time to get everything organized. Please remember you are to take your entire order and are responsible for delivery to your customers.

Wreath update
I followed up on a question about the wreath decorations and got some great news. The wreaths actually have more than just a bow! They will also include berries and pine cones. Make sure you're pointing this out when you go to make a sale. People may be more interested in a $20 wreath if its all gussied up with winter berries!
First Parent Meeting - Minutes
Nov 5, 2015
Kinda. No official-type minutes, just what happened and what you might have missed! As you are well aware, the fundraising for the trip is underway. We've already sold citrus and hypnotist tickets, and wreath order forms went out last night and are due back by Nov 25th. Students can come get extras from M. Murphy, Ms. Mac or Ms. O'Hare. Or you can download one right over there --> We will also have a raffle for a Christmas basket in the not too distant future. There are lots more fundraisers to come and we will keep you posted here, via email and twitter as they arrive. One point of note is that the auction will be in February again this year, but feel free to start sniffing out donations! |

Last minute thoughts
June 16
Two more days!!!
All forms have been passed in and the weather forecast looks great. We want the students to be responsible but it probably wouldn't hurt for you to take a quick look to make sure they have packed all the necessary things, particularly the Sprytown shirts for the photo-op, and appropriate amounts of clothing/toiletries.
The bus leaves at 530 on Thursday so please make sure your student is on the bus well before then! Supper is not included on Thursday however we will be stopping on the way. I believe the only options at the stop will be fast food though. If this is not an option due to dietary restrictions, please make sure your student eats before they get on the bus.

Follow up and clarifications
There were two questions at the meeting that we had to follow up with the tour company for answers. The first was about washroom facilities at the residences. At McGill (where we are staying for 2 nights) the bathrooms are private, like a hotel room. At Laval (where we stay only Sunday night) they are shared. They didn't give any further information on "shared" so based on my experience with residence I'd say either (1) there is a group washroom similar to what you would find at Good Life or the YMCA, or (2) there are a few private bathrooms in the hallways that are shared between a few rooms.
The second question was about towels. We have been assured that both residences will provide towels, however another good point was raised about the Granby Zoo and waterpark. I can't find anything on their website so I'd say packing a beach towel just to be safe isn't a bad idea.
Finally I would like to re-clarify medications. Students are NOT ALLOWED TO SELF MEDICATE. There was a gray form (3pages) that went home to be filled out if you would give us permission to give any over the counter medications (claritin, midol, tylenol, gravol). Some parents have written in that their child will just bring their own over the counter meds. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION. It is school board policy that any medications are to be given by the first aider (Ms. O'Hare). We will put the students' names on the meds (prescription or over the counter) and will distribute as necessary. We will also have some available for those who did not bring their own but did get permission.
Although you may trust your child, we can not take any risks when it comes to medications. Any medications found on students will be taken and given back at the end of the trip. I hope this clarifies things, if you need any further information or forms please contact me: [email protected]

Meeting Postponed to May 20
May 7, 2015
Due to circumstances beyond our control we will have to move our parent information meeting from May 13 to May 20th. The superintendent has called for a board wide SAC meeting that night and Mrs. Wilson needs to be at that meeting. It is important that everyone (parents and school staff) are present at the next trip meeting so we had no option but to postpone.
Apologies for the inconvenience and see you all on the 20th.

Trip update
April 24, 2015
The days are getting longer and the trip is getting closer! Our final payment point was yesterday and there are still a few people who have payments to make. Please get these in as soon as possible as we need to pay the travel company in full next week!
The next step on our journey is paperwork and logistics for the trip. We will have a parent meeting on May 13 at 630. We need at least one parent for each student to either be at this meeting. We will discuss the itinerary, expectations, and address any questions. We will also be handing out permission forms, medical forms and all other types of paperwork essential to the trip.
As always if you have any questions please contact Mrs. Wilson or M. Murphy.

We will discuss the itinerary, expectations, and address any questions. We will also be handing out permission forms, medical forms and all other types of paperwork essential to the trip.
As always if you have any questions please contact Mrs. Wilson or M. Murphy.
Quick Update:
April 15, 2015
The yard sale has come and gone. It sounds like those who participated did pretty well, or at least had some fun. This was the last fundraiser so anything that is needed to top up accounts will have to be paid rather than fundraised. We're hoping to get an information burst to parents either tomorrow or Friday. This will include account updates, trip itinerary and some information about what comes next.
Stay Tuned!

Yard sale!
The date of the yard sale is set for April 12, from 10-2. As mentioned before, students will be given a table to sell items to support their trip accounts. For those who are all caught up, think of this as a way to build some spending money for while you are on the trip! We will also be selling spaces to community members (neighbours, grandparents, friends) for $10.
If you or your student don't have items to sell, but are available to assist in with the event on the day of (face painters, canteen), please let M. Murphy know! A notice and an ad for students to put up in the community will be sent home tomorrow. Here's a sneak peek, Spread the word! |

Fundraising update
Mar 2 2015
As many of you already know, the auction was a huge success. The students raised over $5000! Great work getting items in and thanks to all who helped (or bought stuff!)
Sprytown gear went home yesterday. We have contacted the provider over the few errors we had and will hopefully have those sorted out soon. That said, to be optimistic yet realistic, I would expect a two week turn around to get the corrected orders (its been a two week turn around on orders so far). That means we're looking at after the break. Sorry, and thanks for your patience.
Finally, account updates went home today. For the next checkpoint students need $700 in their accounts. Shouldn't be a problem for many after the auction, for others, please bring your payments to Ms. Parker by Thursday, March 5.

Auction Approaches!
Feb 23 2015
Items have been rolling in for our Auction this Friday Feb 27. Please make sure you have all your donations in by tomorrow so we can organize the lots and make a list ahead of the event!
Tickets will be handed out today to students who were on the ski trip. Due to the short time frame, we will accept ticket money until Thursday, Feb 26th. Also, because of snow days and ski trips etc, this year there will be tickets available at the door, however, proceeds from door tickets will go to the general trip fund, not individual students. To ensure proceeds are directed to your student, please sell tickets ahead of time.

Sorry for the delay folks but we now have confirmation from Bubba Ray's that admission to the auction will include one Molson product (Canadian or Coors Light). Students will receive their tickets tomorrow and can start selling right away!
For students who will be away on the ski trip this week, parents can come and pick up tickets from the office . This way you can try and sell a few while the students are gone (or so students can start selling as soon as they get back).
Tickets are $5 each and proceeds go directly to trip accounts. Money is due to M. Murphy by 9am on Wednesday Feb 24th.

Clothing Update
Thanks to everyone who went out and sold our SpryTown gear. We sold over 170 articles of clothing, which means we save 10% on our clothing costs. We also get a lower rate on the screen printing so the portion of sales going to students keeps going up! Great job everyone!
Account updates will go out tomorrow.
